I normally leave my writing to various tweets throughout the day, but it’s Covid season so here we are. My father passed on this bad relationship to me. Raz and New York Jets. 27 years of pain and counting.  Some would say I’m old enough to make my own decisions but look up Stockholm syndrome and there is a picture of me.

NYJ Free Agency Additions:
Breshad Perriman WR, 1 year 8.5 million ($6 million guaranteed)
Greg Van Roten, Guard , 3 years 10.5 million
George Fant, Tackle, 3 years 30 million ($13.7 guaranteed)
Connor Mcgoven, Guard 3years 27 million ($18 million guaranteed)
Alex Lewis, Guard 3 years 18.6 million ($3 million guaranteed)
Brian Poole,CB 1 year 3.5 million
Pierre Desir, CB 1 year 3.2 million dollars

But fuck that let’s get to it. Going into the offseason the Jets needed just about everything. Joe Douglas this was your time to shine. Now I’ve lived through Bradway, Izdik , Tannenbaum and Maccagnan so the bar is the floor. Last years Offensive line had me and the chefs at Charlie Meaneys blocking for the Mono God. Needless to say he was fighting for his life all year.  Joe D addressed the Oline , signing George Fant who I’m not sure is good. Resigning Alex Lewis and bringing in two studs in Connor McGovern and Greg Van Roten. Did we upgrade ? Yeah for sure. Do I feel any better? I can’t really tell.

We signed another ILB from the Ravens and I’m not sure why so I won’t address it. But we do know if it’s one thing the Jets need it’s Interior defenders. Welcome to the team Josh Doctson and Breshad Perriman . I love taking chances on former 1st rounders . Because why the fuck not. Resigning Poole and Maulet are good moves along with the desir signing. We still need a big time corner but these dudes are no slouches. The Free agency period was basically bargain hunting and now with the draft this week the Jets still have many needs to address.

Here’s a look at my mock draft for the New York Fastplanes.

Round 1: (Pick 11) Jerry Jeudy WR, Alabama

This is self explanatory. Alabama's recent track record under Nick Saban for productive receivers in the NFL includes Amari Cooper, Julio Jones, and Calvin Ridley. This years duo of Jeudy & Henry Ruggs should add two more electric playmakers who have plug and play potential early on Sundays.

A complete all around receiver at 6"1 193, a blazer in the open field leaves defenders with a facemask full of dust if they take a sub-optimal route trying to take him down. Light feet as a runner which allows him to accelerate and go 0 to 100 out of cuts, also is an elite route runner due to his swift yet subtle change of direction on his route tree that makes him one of the dangerous receivers in the class. The questions that exist for Jeudy to prove at the next level are his reliance on catches using his body instead of his hands aren't something that will be a crutch when going against the top defensive backs in the NFL and that he possesses the juice to win consistently on jump balls and deep routes against the best of the best. Nonetheless, the departure of fast Robby Anderson to the Panthers in free agency leaves an already vanilla offense in terms of skill position threats that give defensive coordinators sleepless nights leading up to games against the Jets in need of a receiver with an NFL street-esque gamebreaker ability.

College Production: 3 years - 159 receptions - 2,732 yards - 17.2 yards per catch - 26 touchdowns

Combine Stats:
40 time: 4.45 seconds
Vertical Jump: 35 inches
20 yard shuttle: 4.53 seconds

Round 2: (Pick 48) Erza Cleveland, Offensive Tackle - Boise State

Jets need a tackle of the future. I think this is him. Athletic, great in zone running scheme. Needs to get stronger though. I don’t see that as an issue.

The Jets need weapons. Bryan Edwards is the most underrated player in this draft . Solid hands great routes and a dog . 6’3 about 215 a huge target for Sam . Returns punts as well. Minor injury concerns but should be good. A WR2 for years to come

College Production: 4 years - 234 catches - 3,045 yards receiving -13 yards per catch - 22 receiving touchdowns

Combine stats: N/A (Broken foot)

Round 3 (Pick 79) Julian Okwara, Edge Notre Dame

Mock Drafts have him all over the place from 1st rounder to 4th. The jets have two third rounders so I wouldn’t be upset if Okwara and Edwards flip flopped. Great quickness off the edge and can drop in coverage if needed . Needs to get stronger but perfect for a 3-4 .

Round 4 (Pick 120) Tyler Biadasz, Center Wisconsin
Smart, efficient  blocker proven track record blocking for Mr Jonathan Taylor you may have heard of him.  Jets need O line depth and he’s probably the center of the future.

Round 5 (Pick 158)  Lamical Perine,  RB Florida

Back up running back? Why not. NFL Genes. Limichal's father, Terrence played football at Auburn and his cousin is former Oklahoma Sooner & journeyman NFL running back Samaje Perine. Has the potential to be a solid receiver out of the backfield as a third down back due to his ability to pass protect.

College Production: 4 years - 493 carries - 2485 yards - 5 yards per carry - 22 rushing touchdowns - 72 catches - 565 yards - 8 receiving touchdowns

Combine Stats:
40 time: 4.62 seconds
Vertical Jump: 35 inches
20 yard shuttle: 4.31 seconds
3 cone drill: 7.13 seconds

Round 6 (Pick 191) - Antoine Brooks Jr, Safety Maryland

He can’t defend a soul in Pass coverage but HES physical as fuck and hits everything moving l. Special teams legend, back up box safety, Fan FAVORITE LOADING!

Round 7 (Pick 211) Lamar Jackson,CB Nebraska
It’s the seventh round I have no clue . Last guy with this name was pretty good and he also played some QB in high school!

I feel confident with my draft. After this the Fast Planes probably still need to get a corner and sure up some more pass rush. But if Joe D can do something similar to this I think we got a chance to be respected very soon.
